iion (BETA)
Use this guide to enable iion bidding in CloudX.
Keep using the platform integration guides for CloudX SDK installation and ad loading:
iion is a server-side bidder: CloudX requests bids on the server and renders winning creatives with the CloudX SDK’s built-in renderer. There is no iion SDK or adapter to add to your app. iion requires CloudX Android SDK 4.5.1 or newer and CloudX iOS SDK 3.8.0 or newer.
iion buys your inventory directly: you need your own iion publisher account, and iion pays you for the impressions it buys.
Overview
iion has no credentials or network mappings to configure in CloudX: no iion account ID, app ID, or placement ID. Enabling the bidder and adding line items is the entire CloudX setup.
Supported ad formats through CloudX
- Banner (320x50)
- MREC (300x250)
- Interstitial
- Rewarded
- App Open
Native is not supported yet.
Step 1. Set up your iion account and update app-ads.txt
Contact your iion account manager to set up a publisher account before enabling live traffic. If you do not have an iion contact, ask your CloudX account manager to coordinate the onboarding.
Provide iion with the apps you plan to enable, then publish the matching app-ads.txt line for your iion seller ID:
iion.io, <SELLER_ID>, DIRECT, 013a29748465dc57Replace <SELLER_ID> with the seller ID iion assigns to your account. Publish the line at https://yourdomain.com/app-ads.txt, where yourdomain.com is the developer website listed in the App Store or Google Play. Keep the existing entries for CloudX and other networks, including any iion RESELLER lines added for other platforms.
Step 2. Enable iion in CloudX
Go to Bidders, select iion in the bidder list, and click Enable.
There is nothing to enter: iion has no account-level credentials, app mappings, or placement mappings in CloudX. If iion is disabled, CloudX will not request iion bids for your inventory.
Step 3. Add iion line items
Go to Line Items and create line items for bidder iion on each CloudX ad unit where iion should compete.
- Use bidder
iion - Target Banner, MREC, Interstitial, Rewarded, or App Open ad units
- Repeat the setup for each ad unit where iion should bid
Step 4. Test and validate
iion does not provide a formal RTB test mode for CloudX. Use controlled live traffic after iion confirms your account and your app-ads.txt line is live.
- Use a physical device. Register it under Test Devices with Test traffic off and Debug Mode on for diagnostics.
- Build and run the app with the CloudX
app_keyand the correct CloudX ad unit identifiers. Do not start the SDK session in test mode. - Request ads from each ad unit where iion is enabled.
- Confirm that iion participates or wins where expected and that returned ads render correctly.
- Compare impressions and revenue with iion after traffic begins flowing.
With Test traffic on, registered devices receive test ads and their data is excluded from revenue reports. iOS Simulator sessions and SDK test-mode sessions remain test requests even with Test traffic off. Use live traffic for the ad and revenue checks above.
No fill during a small test can be normal and does not by itself indicate that the setup is broken.
Troubleshooting
iion is not listed
iion is currently beta in CloudX. Contact your CloudX account manager to request access if it is not visible under Bidders.
iion is not bidding
Check the following first:
iionis enabled underBidders- An
iionline item exists for the ad unit - The ad unit is Banner, MREC, Interstitial, Rewarded, or App Open (Native is not supported)
- iion has set up your account and the apps you enabled
- Your app-ads.txt file includes
iion.io, <SELLER_ID>, DIRECT, 013a29748465dc57with your seller ID, and the store listing points to that developer domain - For iOS, the app is published on the App Store, so CloudX can send iion the app’s numeric App Store ID
iion bids but the ad does not render
Check the following:
- Your app is using the CloudX
app_keyand loading the intended CloudX ad unit - Your app uses CloudX Android SDK 4.5.1 or newer, or CloudX iOS SDK 3.8.0 or newer
iion creatives render through the CloudX SDK’s built-in renderer. If a specific creative fails consistently, contact CloudX support with the app, ad unit, and approximate time of the failure.
Demand is lower than expected
- Confirm with iion that your seller ID and app-ads.txt line are correct for your account.
- Allow time for iion and its buyers to re-crawl the updated app-ads.txt file.
- Validate with controlled live volume because iion does not provide RTB test demand through CloudX.
