Block Packs
Block ad categories, advertisers, apps, and creatives across your apps with reusable packs.
A block pack is a named set of blocking rules. It stops matching ads from serving in your apps. Open Block Packs in the dashboard sidebar to create packs, turn on CloudX templates, and choose where each pack applies.
Kinds of pack
| Kind | Maintained by | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Your packs | You | Create, edit, and delete them, and choose where each one applies. |
| CloudX templates | CloudX | Turn them on or off, and choose where each one applies. The contents are read-only. |
| CloudX IAB Policies | CloudX | Nothing. It is always on for all traffic. |
What a pack can block
| Target | Where it is enforced |
|---|---|
| IAB content categories | In the bid request, and again on each returned bid |
| Advertiser domains | In the bid request, and again on each returned bid |
| App bundles | In the bid request, and again on each returned bid. A CloudX template’s apps are checked on each returned bid only. |
| Creative IDs | On each returned bid |
When a rule is in the bid request, a demand partner that follows it removes matching bids before it responds. CloudX also checks every returned bid, so a bid that ignores the rule is still blocked. The Effectiveness tab shows these bids as non-compliant, per network.
Blocks apply to bids that declare the blocked field, such as advertiser domain, creative ID or category. Some SDK networks don’t declare these fields. Set blocks for those networks in their own dashboards.
Create a pack
- Open Block Packs and click New Block Pack.
- Choose Start from scratch.
- Enter a pack name. You can also add a description, an icon, and a color.
- Add values to each target. Pick categories from a list. For advertiser domains, app bundles and creative IDs, type one value at a time, or use Bulk update to paste a comma-separated list.
- Under App targeting, choose where the pack applies.
- Click Save changes.
A save reaches new auctions within about a minute. If someone else saved a change after you opened the page, your save is rejected. Reload the page and try again.
Choose where a pack applies
| Scope | Effect |
|---|---|
| None | The pack blocks nothing. Use this while you are still building it. |
| Entire portfolio | The pack applies to every app on your account. |
| Specific apps | The pack applies only to the apps you pick. Pick at least one app to save. |
Each app’s details page lists the packs that are active on that app, with their blocks over the last 30 days.
How packs combine
- All packs that cover an app merge into one list per target. A pack never overrides another pack, so blocking only grows.
- Packs also merge with block lists assigned directly to your account, an app, or an ad unit. A value blocked by any of them is blocked.
- CloudX IAB Policies applies on top of everything, to all traffic.
CloudX templates
Each template is a CloudX-maintained list of apps in one category. A template blocks ads that promote those apps; it doesn’t change which of your apps show ads. CloudX keeps the lists current, so their contents change over time.
| Template | Blocks ads that promote apps in this category |
|---|---|
| Slots | Slots |
| Casino | Casino |
| Poker | Poker |
| Betting | Betting |
| Crypto | Crypto |
| Dating | Dating |
| AI GF | AI companion apps |
| Astrology | Astrology |
| Chat Apps | Chat apps |
| Short Drama | Short drama |
| Story Driven Games | Story-driven games |
To use one, click New Block Pack, pick a template (or Browse all templates), choose where it applies, and click Turn on. To turn a template off, open it, set App targeting to None, and click Save changes.

Limits
- A pack holds at most 200 values per target.
- All of your own packs that apply to the same app merge into one list, which also holds at most 200 values per target. For example, three packs with 100 advertiser domains each cannot all apply to the same app. CloudX templates don’t count toward this limit.
- A pack name is required and can be up to 255 characters.
Measure the effect
The Effectiveness tab on the Block Packs page shows what your rules removed and what fallback bids recovered:
- Blocked bids, Fallback recovery, Net forgone revenue, and Network non-compliance.
- Blocks by Pack shows each pack’s share. A value that is in several packs counts for each of them, so the rows can add up to more than the total.
- Blocks by Network shows non-compliant bids per demand partner.
- Recent Blocking Changes lists recent changes to your rules.
Ask CloudX
Click Learn more on the Block Packs page, or open Ask CloudX on any pack, to ask about your packs. It can explain what a pack blocks, where it applies, and how your packs combine.
Line-item block lists
Block lists on line items are being retired. A line item that has one keeps it, read-only. Your Partner Success manager will move it to app level.
